PIRS: INCLUSION SUPPORT

Get The Support You Need

Peel Inclusion Resource Services (PIRS) is a collaborative initiative between specialized resource programs and licensed child care providers that supports children with developmental needs and their families before they enter the school system. PIRS promotes inclusive practices by offering early intervention, consultation, and individualized strategies to help every child participate meaningfully in child care environments.

PIRS: INCLUSION SUPPORT

PIRS Is Committed To Supporting:

  • Children with special needs in licensed child care centres and home-based programs across Brampton, Caledon, and Mississauga, ensuring they have access to meaningful, inclusive early learning experiences.

  • Early identification of children who may benefit from additional support, allowing for timely intervention through collaboration with families and educators.

  • Child care programs and educators by providing expert guidance, resources, and coaching to create inclusive environments where every child can participate, belong, and thrive.

Who Can Receive PIRS Supports?

Children are eligible for Peel Inclusion Resource Services (PIRS) if they meet the following criteria:

    1. Age

      • From birth up to 12 years old.

    2. Child Care Status

      • Must be enrolled in licensed child care across Brampton, Caledon, or Mississauga—this includes infant, toddler, preschool, or home-based programs.

      • Alternatively, must have a confirmed start date within the next two weeks.

    3. Support Needs

      • Children with special needs or those identified as needing extra support to fully participate in child care. A formal diagnosis is not required—eligibility is based on developmental needs and participation challenges

How PIRS Supports Your Child and Family

Through Peel Inclusion Resource Services (PIRS), families are partnered with a dedicated Resource Consultant who will get to know you and your child, and work alongside your child care provider to help create a positive, inclusive experience for everyone involved.

Your Resource Consultant will:

  • Develop a personalized support plan in collaboration with you and your child care provider, focusing on your child’s unique strengths and areas of growth.

  • Share practical strategies and ideas to support inclusion and help all children thrive in their child care environment.

  • Connect you with helpful resources and community services that may benefit your child and family.

  • Support smooth transitions—from child care to school, or to other services if needed—so your child feels confident and prepared every step of the way.

PIRS is here to work with you, so your child has every opportunity to succeed, grow, and feel a sense of belonging.

How to Start the Referral Process

Getting support through Peel Inclusion Resource Services (PIRS) is simple, and we’re here to help every step of the way.

Here’s how to begin:

  • If your child is already in child care: Talk to your child care provider or connect directly with the Resource Consultant at your centre. They can help complete the referral with you.

  • If you’re looking for child care: Give us a call! We’ll guide you through the referral process and, if needed, help you explore child care options that suit your family’s needs.

  • If you’re working with a doctor or another professional: They can start the referral on your behalf, and a member of our team will follow up with you directly to complete the process.

No diagnosis is needed to access support—just a desire to help your child thrive.
